Among publications from the lower half of Table 2, the incidence of fractures of the ThC usually far exceeds the percentage of fractured HB, only occasionally being approximately on the same level (including the above-mentioned retrospective reports [4], [57] and [61], and only in two series BML-210 significantly higher for the HB [3] and [54]. The incidence of the combined trauma (HB and ThC) is often between the indicators of isolated injury to the HB and ThC.
Another trend of the last decade is sediment the extensive use of cross-sectional diagnostic imaging (particularly postmortem computer tomography) before or instead of forensic autopsy. In four pilot series a relatively little number of hanging cases was studied using postmortem whole-body multislice CT with multiplanar reconstructions of neck structures [40], [49], [55] and [63]. Results of the search for anterior neck fractures differ significantly both in quantity (from 32.0% to 83.3% of cases) and localization.
