The Womens Epee team event was more or less for bragging rights, as there will not be a Womens Epee Team competition at the 2008 Olympics. As they compete for specific berths to the Games the group activities provide additional training for the squads.
The win by France can be a follow-up to their overall team achievement in the 2006 World Championships as France took 4 of the 6 team gold medals available. England also features many of the worlds top epee fencers.
